EDA University Center @ UIC Launch

The EDA University Center @ UIC was launched on December 14, 2016, with representatives from local, state and national government, as well as many local partners.

Mr. Jay Williams, US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development spoke at the event about the importance of research for economic development, especially in areas that have experienced years of disinvestment. We thank Assistant Secretary Williams and his colleagues for taking the time to join us; we are also grateful to Provost Susan Poser, Dean Michael Pagano, and Ms. Haley Stevens for their kind remarks at the event.

Plans are underway to: conduct a national overview of conditions, practices, and case studies on economic development; inventory green and green potential industries in Cook County; profile conditions in Southeast Cook County; and document potential for green industrial development.

We hope you will be able to join us sometime in the spring when we release our initial findings; more information forthcoming and available on the Center website.
